Shamim Aktar - 7th Dan is the Shotokan JKA Academy's chief instructor . As a Child he was a fan of Bruce Lee,, he got his early inspiration in wanting to learn martial arts watching  Bruce Lee films and Samurai movies in the early 1970's. He grew up in very challenging times, his high School had a reputation of having some of the roughest, toughest bullies in the neighbourhood. So naturally he had to put up with a lot of tough competition every day of his school life & often ended up  trying to prove himself in front of the 'Big bullies' in order to survive his School days. He never backed away from a fight or any challenge, even though many times he got beaten severely. After watching Bruce Lee film trailers in the early 1970's, and wanting to punch like him,kick like him, & emulate him, he began to learn Martial arts to become physically strong,flexible, & fast and to keep himself physically & mentally challenged in an extreme sport. He tried many  sports & combative martial arts at that time such as Boxing, Judo/jiu jitsu, Wing Chun,Jeet KuneDo,Taekwondo,  and many others, but somehow seemed to keep coming back to karate as he liked its peaceful philosophy and self-discipline structure because they fit into his temperament & cultural lifestyle naturally.
Under the tutelage of the top japanese karate masters who visited UK from Japan regularly in the ealy 1970's,he never missed any opportunity to go and learn from them on seminars and courses. Through his hard   detremined training,these karate masters pushed his physical &  mental potentials to the limit. Such was his enthusiasm in learning from them that after a training course in 2005 with Sensei Tanaka 8th Dan, one of the toughest JKA instructors and & world kumite champion he decided to visit  JKA headquarters in Japan and train at the JKA hombu dojo with the very best of the JKA masters for 8 weeks.The training at the JKA honbu was very tough and on returning back to the UK,after, he decided & vowed to continue training just like the JKA way, which he found very impressive and effective, all throughout his life . subsequently,over the next few decades through regular consistent training, including many trips to China, Japan,Malaysia, Singapore, to explore karate more in-depth & train with the world's top representative masters in their home countries in Karate & other martial arts, he was able to develop his karate & martail arts techniques & skills systematically in a structured manner. 
Currently Shamim Aktar is recognised as a 7th Dan,graded by a panel supervised by Sensei Oishi 8th Dan from Japan, Sensei Naito 8th Dan JKA Italy, & Sensei Kawasoe 8th Dan JKAWF England. Being a humble & sincere practitioner of karate,he is still very much active and passionate in his karate and passing on his many decades of karate & martial arts ideas & experience to his dedicated & commited students & followers at the Shotokan Karate JKA Academy, which has two branches, one in Watford, Hertfordshire England, and the other in Luton, Bedfordshire,England.  He feels this is his legacy &  contribution towards the positive human development of individuals through the art of Shotokan JKA Karate. As the ultimate goal of shotokan karate teachings is to develop to become a good human being. He tries to simplify all that he has learned in his over 55 years for his up and coming students with much patience & enthusiasm, in order to guide them correctly, make them the best people they can be through karate.  For those karate people that know or heard of the former famous llegendary Masters of Shotokan JKA Karate, Shamim Aktar has been personally taught by the world's very best top karate masters, as can be seen from the many photos of him training with them.
